Star-Worthy Venison Steak

Star-Worthy Venison Steak

I cook this all the time and it is ALWAYS a hit. If you’re iffy about deer meat, or can’t get any, it is just as good with beef.

Ingredients:

½ c.        Lawry’s Steak and Chop
1 lb.        Venison Cube Steak
½ c.        All-purpose flour
½ tsp.    salt and pepper
¼ c.        Cooking Oil
1 can      Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 env.    Dry onion soup mix
1 can      mushrooms, chopped

Directions:

1.       Place steak and marinade in a bowl and set aside for thirty minutes.
2.       Coat venison in mixture of flour, salt, and pepper.
3.       Brown steak in oil in skillet over medium heat.
4.       Whisk all remaining ingredients together in a bowl. Add water until you have the consistency of yogurt. Pour this mixture over meat in skillet.
5.       Turn heat to simmer and leave for 15 minutes.
6.       Serve with bread or rice.

I like to serve this with fried squash.

My fried squash batter:
2 medium size squash
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. cilantro
1 tbsp. Steak and Chop seasoning
1 tbsp. Paprika

Fry in oil on medium heat until soft.
