DIY Review: Homemade Febreeze
Ingredients:
3 tbsp. Fabric
Softener
3 c. Hot Water
1 tbsp. Baking Soda
1 Super
cool label that says you made it yourself
Directions:
Mix everything up and spray away. Don’t forget to tape on
your label.
At
first I was going to use my DIY Fabric Softener to do this. I was super excited
about it too… Talk about being a DIY queen bee. However, the fabric softener we
made smells like vinegar. Just to note, it doesn’t once it’s put in a load of
clothes. I don’t know what happens, but it’s great- no vinegar, just smell
goodie goodness. But, I was afraid that the vinegar smell wouldn’t go away when
I was spraying this on curtains. I didn’t want people to walk in my house and
start craving pickles. So, I used the little bit of store bought softener I had
left. I used the blue Suavitel, my favorite store bought variety, plus it has a
good price tag too.
I
promise I am not being bias when I say this stuff works great. I gave up name
brand Febreeze a few years ago when I discovered the Dollar Tree version. It
doesn’t have a smelly smell that lasts over a day like Febreeze does, but it
gets the odor out. No smell is better than bad smell. Particularly at ¼ of the
cost. This homemade stuff though, the smell lasts. My curtains still smelled
yummy on the second day. Third day, no smell. But that’s actually a tall order
since I had self-cleaned my oven and the rest of the house smells like a fire
scene. If you have the stuff around, I super recommend making this as soon as
your current bottle runs out. You’ll thank me when you’ve stopped paying ridiculous
amounts for flowery goodness.
