Summer Fun on the Cheap: Old Railroad Bridge Company (ORBC)

Summer Fun on the Cheap: Old Railroad Bridge Company (ORBC)

In the Shoals, we are really lucky to have TVA around. They have lots of nature trails that lead you all over the water. You can see water falls, the dam, any nature you can think of, etc. What I didn’t know until recently was that the trails also lead to the Old Railroad Bridge. The bridge has been converted into a pedestrian walkway where you can see the cars bustling over O’Neal Bridge on one side and on the other Patton Island Bridge and the dam. We got to wave at people on boats as they zoomed under us. I have to say, it was a great view for not being at the beach.
There’s informational signs and stuff around to give you a taste of the history as well. Normally I’d be all over that, but on our trip I was just enjoy my walk over the water. The only cons I can think of was that there were a lot of spots where it looked like they had just painted over a lot of graffiti. I imagine the spot is a favorite for teenagers with nothing better to do.
We did find one piece of artwork that really stood out. We couldn’t wait to get home and ask Buddy who Sheba was. He didn’t seem too excited when we asked him. He just rolled over and wanted us to scratch his belly.
